I’d be excited and honored to speak for your group. It’s great motivation for students, employees, folks with disabilities, and anyone else that needs a little push.
I’m very personable and passionate about what I do. What makes me different from others and more relatable is that I’m speaking from experience.
The thing is that many people that have something bad happen to them spend much of their time complaining and commiserating. I’ve got news for you – it makes things worse. Look for the bad and you’ll find the bad.
I was a marathon runner, a drummer in a band, received a masters degree in biotechnology and was working my way up the corporate ladder, and was a family man with two kids when I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
I thought my life was over. The way I was identified by others, and consequently, the way I identified myself, was over.
It wasn’t – I just had to take control of my health and be cognizant of the doors that were opening and be willing to walk through them. I could have sat on my hands.
The presentation is around 30-40 minutes but I often stay longer if there are a lot of questions!
